Working with Hosking Associates

ASP has had close connections with safety, health, and environmental specialist Hosking Associates (www.hosking-associates.com), for the last eight years. As a result of consistently demonstrating high standards in their respective fields, the two companies regularly cross refer business.

For some time, ASP has been looking towards achieving the ISO14001 award, and made the decision to go for Hosking Associates’ Green Ribbon Award as a stepping stone towards achieving the ISO qualification.

Hosking Associates’ Green Ribbon Award (stepping stone towards ISO14001)

Hosking Associates launched the Green Ribbon Award – an environmental benchmark for businesses to aspire to – providing an annual measurement via a compliance and good practice audit.

The Green Ribbon Award is a 50-point audit which provides a report for the organisation and a subsequent action plan. It covers areas including: fuel tanks, energy systems, waste notes etc.

Liz Ainslie, environmental consultant at Hosking Associates, commented: “The Green Ribbon Award is a half-way house towards ISO14001 – it isn’t as onerous, but provides an excellent benchmarking tool. It puts a marker in the sand and helps companies to work towards being as environmentally efficient as possible. It also allows organisations to understand whether they are legally compliant or not.”

Kate Johal, director at ASP, added: “The Green Ribbon Award confirmed the environmental policies and procedures we have in place and provided a checklist of objectives for the business. The outcomes of the internal audit demonstrate there is still work to do, but we are well on the way.

“We are now starting to build an environmental manual, and from there can apply for the ISO accreditation.

“The Green Ribbon Award is a really simple process, and an excellent stepping stone towards achieving the ISO14001 accreditation. Hosking Associates has really identified and developed an excellent concept.”

Louise Hosking, managing director at Hosking Associates, said:

“We developed the Green Ribbon Award to support companies with their environmental planning. It has provided ASP with a checklist of what the company needs to do to work towards the ISO14001 accreditation.

“Because of what the company does, environmental policies will always be top of mind and quality systems will always be in place. Therefore, achieving these types of certification should be fairly straightforward.

“The team at ASP have been very receptive and excellent to work with. I have no doubt  they will achieve their ISO qualification in the suggested timeframes.”
