GERALD EVE GETS HEALTH AND SAFETY RIGHT FROM THE OUTSET

Property consultancy launches new division with the support of Hosking Associates

Gerald Eve is a firm of international property consultants based in the UK. The company operates a national network of nine offices and an international alliance of independent real estate providers covering Europe and major US markets.

Gerald Eve endeavour to provide independent, intelligent and relevant advice based on detailed market knowledge and sector understanding. Together they have the resources, experience and relationships to deliver the best property solutions.

In 2017, Gerald Eve launched a property and asset management (PAM) division, which it extended to existing and potential new clients. In September, the company went live with its full facilities management (FM) offering.

Getting it right from the outset when it comes to health and safety

Prior to establishing the FM division, Gerald Eve brought in health and safety consultancy, Hosking Associates, to provide guidance and direction and to help set up the correct procedures for this side of the business. Louise Hosking, director at Hosking Associates, started to work alongside the PAM division as new property portfolios came in – creating processes, procedures and arrangements which fitted neatly under the group policy.

Chandra Hughes, Head of FM at Gerald Eve, said: “The team at Hosking Associates played a pivotal role in the interim, prior to establishing the new division.”

“Each of our property managers was provided relevant guidance in terms of health and safety compliance – ensuring they would be properly set up for the launch. And Hosking Associates made themselves available 24/7.”

“I joined the business in November 2017, feeling confident with the work that had taken place prior to my arrival – with the right processes and organisation in place.”

Continuing in the same vein – supporting expansion (Hosking Associates)

The team at Hosking Associates continue to provide ongoing support which includes:

  • Quarterly meetings with consultants undertaking fire, water, general and asbestos support
  • Regular progress meetings against an agreed strategy
  • Ongoing development of internal arrangements with group representatives
  • FM training and support

Louise Hosking said: “It is our mission to support our clients, work alongside them and ensure they are fully proficient when it comes to all aspects of health and safety. We have a planned approach and take clients on a journey, empowering them so they can make the right risk-based choices. We are there – and on hand – to help out with ongoing queries, and to make sure clients stay on track when it comes to best practice.”

Chandra Hughes added: “Louise Hosking is a true professional, and because of that we made sure we had her team’s guidance in the run-up to our launch. We now feel truly empowered in terms of our health and safety competency. And, we know that – moving forward – this will stand us in good stead in terms of supporting our overall business growth.”
